Disability transport in the Castelli Romani

‹ English home

A wheelchair, a walking frame, a leg that no longer holds up: when getting around is difficult, every trip becomes an effort for the person and for the family. The Misericordia di Ariccia provides equipped vehicles and trained volunteers for transporting people with disabilities throughout the Castelli Romani.

The vehicle with a lift

Our equipped vehicle has a wheelchair lift: you get on and off while staying seated in your own wheelchair, which is safely secured. No tiring transfers, no lifting. For people who walk with some help we also use comfortable cars; when medical assistance is needed, the ambulance.

Don’t have a wheelchair or crutches? We will lend them to you for the whole journey: just tell us when you book.

Frequently asked questions

Can I travel in my electric wheelchair?

Tell us when you book: we check that the size and weight of the wheelchair are compatible with the vehicle’s lift and restraints, and if not we find an alternative.

Can you lend me a wheelchair or crutches for the journey?

Yes: if you don’t have them, we provide a wheelchair and crutches during the transport. Let us know when you book, so we can have them ready in the vehicle.

Can a family member come with me?

Yes, as a rule there is room for a companion. Let us know when you book.

Do you also provide non-medical accompaniment?

Yes: shopping, errands, a day out, a ceremony. For us social transport is just as important as medical transport, so that nobody is left shut indoors. Find out about our social services.
